“I graduated last year and knew I wanted to teach. I had been involved with tutoring in New Haven through Youth Together but I had no formal teaching experience. Brooke’s Associate Teacher Corps was the perfect fit. Brooke is a high achieving charter school network in Boston, MA with a huge focus on teacher development. (Every Wednesday is a half day for students while teachers spend the afternoon planning and learning!) As an Associate Teacher, you are an integral part of a grade-level team, developing curriculum, mentoring students and teaching lessons. With Brooke’s focus on professional development, you learn a ton about best practices in teaching and the latest in educational theory and thought. After one year as an Associate, you can move on to run your own classroom. I feel so prepared to take on full teaching responsibilities next year because of all the support and training I received this year as an Associate. If you are looking for a rigorous position in teaching in a high achieving and supportive environment, consider applying for Brooke’s Associate Teacher Corps!
