Bridges ESL

Mission:

Bridges ESL provides free English language lessons to individuals in the Yale and New Haven community who want or need to improve their communication skills and bridge their language gap. These individuals will acquire the English skills needed to be effective in the family, the workplace, and the community — building bridges for their own future.

Volunteer tutors are at the heart of our program. Become a volunteer today!

Summary of Activities:

Millions of immigrants arrive in the United States lacking fluent English language skills. They need English proficiency to pursue employment, obtain a higher education, obtain citizenship, and/or to interact with others in their daily lives. Bridges ESL helps its students to develop confidence in carrying out interactions in English and provides them with tools that will help them become more involved in their new home in this country.

Classes are held on Saturday mornings from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Asian American Cultural Center. Student registration for Bridges classes is on an open-enrollment basis. To register for the Bridges program, come to the Asian American Cultural Center (295 Crown Street, New Haven) at 10 AM during first two classes of each semester.

Keep in Mind:
The first Bridges ESL class for Fall 2016 begins on Saturday, September 10th, 2016. Please arrive at 9:30AM for check-in. Lessons will last from 10:00AM to 12:00PM.
