Event description:

Join Sanctuary Kitchen at the MLK Peace Community Garden at this Syrian Mezze cooking demo! Learn authentic Mezze (Middle Eastern appetizers) recipes from our Syrian refugee cook – Omaya – and hear her stories. Participants will observe the preparation of several traditional Syrian salads and dips using garden produce, and gain insight into Omaya’s experience as a refugee and as a new resident of New Haven. You will enjoy the delicious Syrian meal together after the demonstration and receive copies of the recipes prepared.

Admission is free but space is limited and must be reserved. We appreciate any donations to support our program. You are welcome to offer a cash gratuity that will be given to the cooks at the end of the demo. There will be a box near the entrance if you would like to support them in this way.

This cooking demo is sponsored by the IANH through New Haven Land Trust, and put on in partnership with CitySeed’s Sanctuary Kitchen program. For inquiries, please email sanctuarykitchenct@gmail.com
