COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT ASSOCIATE
Long Wharf Theatre (LWT) seeks enthusiastic, creative, organized applicants for a part–time Community Engagement Associate position. Work to envision, implement and advance LWT’s community engagement programs, coordinate LWT’s new partnership with Integrated Refugee and Immigrant Services (IRIS). Candidates should have teaching/facilitating experience, high standards, excellent writing skills and a creative background. Cross-cultural communication skills/experience is preferred. Experience creating original performance pieces preferred. A passion for live theatre, music, dance, and/or the power of storytelling is a must. AUDIENCE SERVICES REPRESENTATIVE
Long Wharf Theatre seeks dependable, enthusiastic applicants for a part-time, day/evening/weekend position in the box office. Evening and weekend availability a plus. SCENIC CARPENTER
Classifications: Seasonal, Full-Time, Exempt
Reports to: Technical Director (TD)

Long Wharf Theatre (LWT), an Equal Opportunity Employer, seeks applicants for Scenic Carpenter. You will work with the Master Carpenter and other scenic carpenters to construct scenery for all LWT productions. Applicants should possess a strong theatrical carpentry background, including the ability to build from construction drawings.

Duties and Responsibilities (including, but not limited to):

  • Construct scenery by implementing industry standard wood and metal working techniques.
  • Participate in Load-ins and Strike
  • Execute safe rigging practices
  • Assist in maintenance of equipment and production facilities
  • Lead crews of overhire during load-ins and strikes
  • Perform work at height on ladders, scaffold, and aerial lifts.
  • Transport scenery and equipment between theatre and offsite spaces.
  • Maintain a high level of execution and a safe work environment

Job Qualifications:
Three years of professional experience as a scenic carpenter is desired, but all  applicants will be considered. 

You should have excellent verbal communication skills; ability to lift 75 pounds; a valid driver’s license required with a clean driving record (subject to a background check).  

This job requires high standards, a strong sense of responsibility, and working nights and weekends.  You should possess the ability to operate well under pressure, with a positive and dedicated problem-solving attitude. We value safe, positive, productive, and team-oriented employees.

WARDROBE SUPERVISOR
Classifications: Seasonal, Full-Time, Non-Exempt
Reports to: Costume Shop Manager (CSM)

Long Wharf Theatre (LWT), an Equal Opportunity Employer, seeks applicants for Wardrobe Supervisor. The Wardrobe Supervisor will work backstage during shows to maintain costumes, wigs, and wardrobe areas for all LWT productions. Applicants should possess a strong theatrical wardrobe background, including the ability to maintain and apply wigs.

Duties and Responsibilities (including, but not limited to):

  • Prepare wardrobe paperwork, including wardrobe tracking and care lists, in coordination with CSM
  • Participate in Load-ins and Strike
  • Execute quick changes with actors backstage during shows
  • Launder, repair, and prep costumes for each show
  • Lead crews of over hire dressers as needed
  • Occasionally assist with stitching  and costume build
  • Assist in maintenance of costume shop and costume storage facilities
  • Maintain a high level of execution and a safe work environment

Job Qualifications:

PROPERTIES MANAGER
Classifications: Seasonal, Full-Time, Exempt
Reports to: Director of Production (DOP)
Direct Reports: Assistant Properties Manager, Properties Carpenter, Properties Runner, Properties Artisan, and Properties Overhire

Long Wharf Theatre (LWT), an Equal Opportunity Employer, seeks applicants for Properties Manager. You will be responsible for the build and/or acquisition of properties and weaponry; supervise the properties staff and overhire for the build and run; collaborate with directors and designers to ensure that the artistic vision of each production remains within the available resources of time, budget, personnel, and LWT’s mission, vision, and values.

Duties and Responsibilities (including, but not limited to):

  • Collaborate with Scenic Designers and Directors in the research, acquisition, and creation of properties and weaponry for productions
  • Handle the budget for the build and maintenance of scenic props, hand props, and set dressing
  • Schedule shopping and build process for each production and non-show projects
  • Respond to daily rehearsal and show reports as needed.
  • Assemble, prepare, and deliver rehearsal and/or show props to designated rehearsal spaces daily during the rehearsal process.
  • Attend all technical rehearsals, production meetings, and weekly production department meetings.
  • Coordinate load-in and strikes with other departments
  • Implement safety standards and preventative maintenance projects.
  • Hire and Supervise all properties personnel
  • Additional duties as assigned by the DOP
  • Develop and Maintain Properties Budgets in collaboration with DOP for all materials, perishables, and labor
  • Management of credit card accounts and petty cash.
  • Manage storage and inventory of all tools, equipment, and stock
  • Plan for future equipment or personnel needs

Job Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Technical Theatre or equivalent experience in props at a LORT Theatre; excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to lift 50 pounds; a valid driver’s license required with a clean driving record (subject to a background check); knowledge and expertise of up-to-date properties techniques including stage firearms and weaponry. You have the ability to understand the work and needs of the department, anticipate potential problems and propose timely solutions. Job requires high standards, a strong sense of responsibility, and working nights and weekends ability to operate well under pressure, with a positive and dedicated problem-solving attitude; to represent LWT in a professional manner; ability to manage, supervise, and motivate staff.
