Yale Undergraduate Prison Project Seeking Tutors for Current Events Program

Summary of Opportunity: 

We are looking for one to two new tutors for our Current Events program. This program runs at a youth prison. Every Friday morning from 9:30 AM to 11AM, Yale volunteers lead a seminar-style discussion on current events for men who are to be released in the upcoming months. We have read about a variety of topics, including the diplomatic relationship between the US and North Korea, advancements in Artificial Intelligence, Donald Trump and Congress’s multiple attempts at a new health care bill, the implications of ABC’s The Bachelorette being a black woman for the first time, and much more.

We are looking for tutors who will be available every Friday morning for at least the upcoming semester. Underclassmen are especially encouraged to apply. If you have any questions about this program, contact liliana.marmolejo@yale.edu.
