Black Solidarity Conference (BSC)

Who are we?

The Black Solidarity Conference at Yale seeks to bring undergraduates of all colors together to discuss issues pertaining to the African Diaspora. Through discussions, panels, workshops, networking, and social gatherings, over 700 students from across the country analyze issues affecting our communities and explore solutions to undertake at their respective college campuses.

What do we do?

Black Solidarity Conference (BSC):

  • Description: The Black Solidarity Conference unites over 300 college students annually for a weekend of impactful activities, panels, and speaker events. The focus is on fostering solidarity and addressing crucial issues within the Black community. The 2023 theme, “Parts of a Whole: Embracing Intersectionality in the Black Identity,” prompted discussions on Queerness, Toxic Masculinity, Black Environmentalism, and more.
  • Noteworthy Events: Featured a keynote dinner at the Omni with activists Chelsea Miller and Tamika Mallory, emphasizing the pivotal role of intersectionality in their lives and activism.

Upcoming Cultural Student Conference:

  • Date: January
  • Anticipated Participation: Around 600 students
  • Event Highlights: A 2-day conference featuring panels, a concert, and a keynote dinner. The central theme, “Mobilizing with Care in the Black Community,” aims to address vital issues and promote thoughtful mobilization.

Annual Black Solidarity Conference:

  • Expected Participants: Approximately 750 Black students from across the country
  • Purpose: The conference serves as a platform for leadership workshops, fostering solidarity, and expanding knowledge about the Black diaspora.

Board Meetings:

  • Frequency: Weekly
  • Objective: The board convenes regularly to meticulously plan the diverse components of the annual conference scheduled for February. These meetings are pivotal in ensuring the success and impact of the conference.
