This program will be a discussion based event featuring an early childhood educator from the New Haven community talking about the role of trauma informed pedagogy in early childhood education. The setup will include an opening with the speaker for about 25 minutes and then a question and answer portion where people will ask questions. At the end, I will engage the crowd with questions.

Questions explored will include:

  • What is the current research around trauma informed pedagogy as it relates to early childhood education?

  • What’s the role of the teacher in creating a trauma sensitive classroom?

  • How do we build trauma informed schools and communities?

  • What current work is going on to highlight this issue in schools?

  • How are early childhood schools addressing mental health concerns that may exist amongst their students?

The goal of this event is to educate around current research and practice being done currently in regards to trauma informed pedagogy and early childhood education.
