Connecticut currently ranks 49th in the country in affordability for a phone call from prison with a 15-minute call running as high as $4.87. Last legislative session, a coalition of advocates worked hard on a bill that would make all communication free for people incarcerated in Connecticut’s prisons. While we ran out of time last session, House Majority Leader Ritter committed to making this bill a priority for the 2020 session. But that’s no guarantee. We need to come into the 2020 session ready to make our voices heard. Join us in Dwight Hall on September 23 for a community meeting where we will organize for next session’s fight!
