Summer 2022 Community Organizing Fellowships for Yale Students
Information Session, Tuesday December 7, 7:00-7:45pm via Zoom
The COVID-19 pandemic has unveiled the stakes in which we all hold to create the future we want. The pandemic is far from over, and the need to build powerful community-based organizations has never been stronger. Organizing renters facing evictions. Building power among community college students to demand funding for public higher education. Strengthening unions and workplace democracy. Organizing.
Are you interested in joining these efforts and learning the art and science of community-based organizing? Please join an information session on Tuesday, December 7, 7:00-7:45 via Zoom for Yale students interested in Summer 2022 fellowships with grassroots community organizations in Connecticut, New York, Washington state, and Virginia.
Please see this sheet for more information about the program and insights from Yale students who participated this summer. The summer fellowship, now in its third year, is a collaboration with the Alliance for a Just Society and is coordinated by Yale professor Daniel Martinez HoSang.
The 2022 fellowships will take place from June 6 to July 29, and engage issues including economic justice, housing, education, immigrant rights, police accountability, and voting. Students will be encouraged to apply for funding from Yale sources to support their participation in the program. Applications will be accepted beginning December 7 until all positions are filled. No prior organizing experience is necessary.
