DESCRIPTION:Frailty Myths\, a non-profit based in Oakland\, California\, is bringing its communityworkshops to NEW HAVEN\, CT\, hosting a free self-reliance workshop for women\, trans\, andgender-nonconforming communities. This is an incredible opportunity to see how communitiesare coming together and fighting back in a year of unprecedented attacks against marginalizedcommunities\, opening a space to challenge toxic masculinity and learn woodworking\,construction\, and self-reliance skills to literally build a new world. \n\n\n\nFrom woodworking\, sailing\, rope access climbing\, and other self-reliance skills\, each FrailtyMyths workshop asks a powerful question: \n\n\n\nCan you change the world by building a new one? \n\n\n\nCurating a conversation around racism\, sexism\, homophobia\, transphobia\, and inequalitycreates a space where these women\, trans\, and gender nonconforming participants\, FrailtyMyths is building transformative communities across the United States. \n\n\n\nFrailty Myths was co-founded by Yale School of Management grad Georgia Faye Hirsty (Classof ‘22). As a Yale grad\, Georgia’s excited to bring Frailty Myths workshops to New Haven andConnecticut. \n\n\n\nSince launching in-person empowerment workshops in 2016\, Frailty Myths has hostedthousands of participants across the United States in curated workshops that educate aboutself-reliance skills while also healing from the wounds of racism\, sexism\, and patriarchy in anincreasingly authoritarian world. \n\n\n\nOne participant said: “I cannot express enough of my gratitude for offering thisworkshop. It was not only fun to make something on my own\, but I left feelingempowered and accomplished. ALL CREDIT TO @FRAILTYMYTHS) \n\n\n\nAbout Frailty Myths:Frailty Myths was founded in October 2016 in Oakland\, California\, by four diverse womencommitted to one transformative idea: \n\n\n\nTo rise from the oppressive myths of “female fragility” and transform the world bycreating a community where women\, trans\, and gender non-conforming folks can buildthe skills and the strength to lead and change the world.With thousands of participants both through community workshops and corporate “Diversity\,Equity\, and Inclusion” training across the United States and around the world\, Frailty Myths hastaught a new generation self-reliance skills\, including woodworking\, climbing\, and sailing.
