SUMMARY:Citizen Printer Live Demo and Print Making
DESCRIPTION:Pull up for a pop-up event in partnership with Possible Futures that brings together legendary printer Amos Paul Kennedy\, Jr. in collaboration with resident brand Deadby5am for a radical printmaking session. The evening will kick off with a short conversation between Kennedy and NXTHVN curatorial fellow Juanita Sunday about using printmaking to express Black culture. The rest of the time will be dedicated to creation\, community\, and conversation. Refreshments will be provided while supplies last. \n\n\n\nABOUT AMOS PAUL KENNEDY\, JR.Amos Paul Kennedy Jr. was born in Lafayette\, Louisiana in 1950. He is an American printer\, book artist\, and papermaker best known for social and political commentary\, particularly in printed posters. Kennedy creates prints\, posters\, and postcards using handset wood and metal type\, oil-based inks\, and eco-friendly and affordable chipboard. Many of the posters are inspired by proverbs and quotes Kennedy locates. His work blends social commentary\, folk art\, and graphic design\, creating resonant pieces that challenge traditional boundaries of art and politics. Kennedy has been exhibited at a range of museums\, galleries\, and libraries\, including the Museum of Modern Art Library and the Institute for Contemporary Art at Virginia Commonwealth University.
