SUMMARY:Virtual Event: “What's Next for Ukraine?” with Journalist Jim Brooke '77
DESCRIPTION:RSVP here! \n\n\n\nJoin us on Wednesday\, March 19 at 7 pm ET for a talk on the war in Ukraine with distinguished journalist Jim Brooke YC ’77.  This event will be hosted online via Zoom. \n\n\n\nThe war in Ukraine is now three years on.  What’s the situation and future for Ukraine? \n\n\n\nJim worked for 24 years as a staff reporter for The New York Times\, with many reporting assignments to Russia. After leaving the Times in 2006\, he worked in Moscow for eight years\, including stints as Bloomberg Bureau Chief and then Voice of America (VOA) Bureau Chief.  He worked for six years as a journalist in Kyiv. In September 2021\, he returned to his native New England.  Jim writes twice a week on Russia-Ukraine for The New York Sun. \n\n\n\nThis virtual event is free\, with a suggested donation of $10 or more to support I.R.I.S.  We suggest a donation of $10 or more to support Ukrainian refugees who are relocating to Connecticut.  We will forward contributions to Integrated Refugee and Immigrant Services (IRIS)\,  a non-profit that supports refugees and asylum seekers and is based in New Haven.  For more information on IRIS\, go to www.irisct.org. \n\n\n\nDonations can be made on the Yale Club of Hartford website.  Write “Ukrainian Refugee Support” in the “Additional Notes” portion of the donation form. \n\n\n\nWe look forward to seeing you on March 19th!

SUMMARY:Reading Group - The Autobiography of Malcolm X
DESCRIPTION:2025 marks 100 years since the birth of Malcolm X El Hajj Malik El Shabazz. SUMMARY:From Summer Fellows to Social Leaders: YANA-Dwight Hall Fellowship to Strengthen the Nonprofit Sector
DESCRIPTION:Location: Dwight Hall at Yale (67 High St\, New Haven\, CT) and via Zoom \n\n\n\nRegister here! \n\n\n\nSchedule for event: \n\n\n\n5:00-5:30 – Networking and Light Refreshments \n\n\n\n5:30-6:30 – Panel Discussion and Q&A \n\n\n\nIf you’re joining us on Zoom we will start at 5:30. \n\n\n\nJoin us for a special evening celebrating 8 years of the YANA–Dwight Hall Summer Fellowship. To date\, Yale alumni have helped fund 32 Fellows\, providing transformative opportunities for students to tackle pressing social challenges in public health\, education\, and social justice. Yet\, the need continues to grow—many students who qualify for the Fellowship still lack the resources to participate. \n\n\n\nAs nonprofits face increasing scrutiny and resource constraints\, this conversation will highlight the importance of strengthening leadership pipelines and equipping emerging changemakers with the tools to sustain and grow their impact. Hear directly from former Fellows about how the program shaped their career paths and allowed them to tackle critical issues in their fields. We’ll also feature an alumni Fellowship sponsor on why they continue to invest in this impactful program. \n\n\n\nOur distinguished speakers include Jonathan Fanton PhD ‘78\, former President of the MacArthur Foundation\, Asia Brown MAR MPH’19\, Wellspring Consulting\, and YANA Dwight Hall Summer 2024 fellow Hameeda Uloomi ‘25. The discussion will be moderated by Rob Leighton SOM ‘89 and YANA Board Member emeritus. Their insights\, alongside stories from past Fellows\, will provide a powerful discussion on the Fellowship’s role in shaping the nonprofit sector’s future. \n\n\n\nDon’t miss this inspiring event\, as we highlight the value of your support and drive the final push toward our campaign goal!
