Harbor Scholars: A Dwight Hall Program at Yale

Mission:

Harbor Scholars: A Dwight Hall Program at Yale is a scholarship and advocacy organization that seeks to address the unique challenges faced by those who do not benefit from the personal and financial support that many of their peers receive from family, both on campus and across Connecticut. This identity includes but is not limited to those with experience in the foster care system, those who have gone forth with emancipation proceedings, and those who lack parental support for other reasons. In order to ensure the continued success of these individuals at the collegiate level, the program provides preprofessional mentorship, financial assistance, and social support to Yale students of this identity. The program also engages in advocacy and an annual service initiative, most recently mentorship and college counseling services to high school juniors and seniors in out-of-home care across New Haven, Waterbury, and Bridgeport public schools.
