Nursing Home Phone Volunteers!

Summary of Opportunity:

Dorot B’Yachad is an intergenerational storytelling initiative between Yale’s Jewish community and the Towers, a Jewish retirement home in New Haven, with the goal of building intergenerational connections and sharing stories during the COVID-19 quarantine. We’re matching up Jewish Yale students to interview some extraordinary residents at the Towers about their lives, their stories, and their reflections during this unprecedented moment in history. This is a small way, as a Yale Jewish community, that we can address the isolation that Jewish elders in our community are facing as a result of the pandemic.

Why should you participate?

1. Develop great interview and communication skills that translate well to academic work

2. Be part of the solution for an urgent problem in our community

3. Have a tangible and profound impact on the happiness and mental health of Jewish elders in New Haven!

The project will happen over the next few months, with interviews taking place at your convenience.
