Six community organizing groups from across the country, together with the Alliance for a Just Society, and Yale professor Daniel Martinez-HoSang, are collaborating to host organizing fellowships for Yale College students in the summer of 2021. The fellowships build on a successful 2020 pilot involving ten Yale College students. This is not a formal program offered by Yale, but instead provides a supported opportunity for Yale students to gain organizing experience through a structured and supported fellowship.
Grassroots organizing is a crucial part of making lasting and effective change. Spend next summer with some of the most exciting grassroots organizations making a change around the country. Learn organizing basics, get hands-on experience building organizational power, and developing the skills and leadership of grassroots members.
The program seeks to:
1.Give aspiring organizers a structured experience of mentorship, training, and practical experience to build and strengthen their organizing skills outside of a campus setting
2. Increase the capacity of local and state organizing campaigns by placing and mentoring Yale student organizing fellows in these efforts.
