The Yale Interpretation Network (YIN) is seeking bilingual students and employees interested in making a difference in the New Haven area!
Limited-English speakers often face language barriers when seeking services like mental health care and legal assistance. Though many organizations would like to accommodate this community, they often lack the resources to do so.
YIN provides high-quality, pro-bono interpretation and translation services to bridge the gap between non-English-speaking community members and social services. Time commitment can be anywhere from once a year to once a week, and you can make a significant impact in our community.
Examples of past placements include interpreting meetings between between asylum seekers and attorneys, translating documents to be used in a psychology study, accompanying immigrants to apply for food stamps, visiting detention facilities, and interpreting parent-teacher conferences.
