Volunteers Needed for Abe’s Tent

Summary of Opportunity:

Come hang out, eat snack, do homework and talk to local New Haven people!

Abraham’s Tent is a cooperative effort between Columbus House and
congregations of faith in greater New Haven. These congregations open their
facilities to house up to 12 homeless people overnight for one week each
during the winter months, helping to alleviate overcrowding in the shelters
and demonstrating support for the homeless members of the New Haven
community. If you have any questions, email renee.tung@yale.edu.

Overnight volunteers at Abraham’s Tent arrive between 10 PM (around 9:30 pm
arrival) and leave between 6 and 7 AM. There are sleep shifts, but someone
must be awake at all times. Abraham’s Tent needs 3-4 volunteers each night,
so they encourage you to sign up with your friends!
