Yale Undergraduate Mindfulness Education Initiative (YUMEI)

Mission:

The Yale Undergraduate Mindfulness Education Initiative (YUMEI) is a student group looking to address a gap in health education in local schools by teaching students strategies to maintain their mental health by managing stress. The initiative aims to empower local students, through workshops about mindfulness, by equipping them with tools and knowledge to mindfully deal with stress and other difficult situations. It trains and supports its Yale undergrad student members to deliver these workshops, and also guides them in their own mindfulness education.

Summary of Activities:

YUMEI trains members to teach a mindfulness-based stress reduction workshop. Members teach this workshop to local middle and high school students. YUMEI holds general meetings to encourage members to practice mindfulness, and also runs occasional on-campus workshops and study breaks.
