Advocacy Fellows:
Join us in creating a policy database aimed at understanding the history of housing/hunger injustice in New Haven on the federal, state, and local levels, to be used as a YHHAP resource as well as assist local government and housing-affiliated organizations and leaders. We will also be monitoring bills going through the CT Legislature and New Haven BOA, writing and collecting testimony for them, and creating methods to help create awareness about these measures on campus. We will also be in collaboration with many local grassroots and non-profit organizations in New Haven, such as MOFJ, CCA, Room for All, and many more! We are always looking for new ways to uplift the voices of local leaders and initiatives and are excited to collaborate with other organizations.
Please reach out to megan.blackwell@yale.edu or joanna.li.chen@yale.edu if interested. We have extended our form deadline to October 4th! Please email megan.blackwell@yale.edu or joanna.li.chen@yale.edu with any questions. If it is past October 4th but you still want to join, please email us! We would love to have you join the team. Apply here.
FAST Team:
The YHHAP FAST team is looking for Student Coordinators to help organize the FAST, Yale’s largest student fundraiser. Once every semester, over 50% of the Yale student body donates their Yale Dining meal swipes for one day, and the proceeds support local nonprofits addressing food and housing insecurity in New Haven. In the past, we have raised over $18,000! Student Coordinators lead outreach, organize advocacy efforts, and help form a team of volunteers.
If you’re interested, please fill out this interest form by Friday, October 6th at 11:59pm.
