Project RESTOR

Mission

Our mission is to address and prevent sexual misconduct in transitional houses and facilities for individuals reintegrating from prison, countering the passive public perception and insufficient pressure on the justice system that perpetuates a cycle of abuse with minimal accountability through research. We aim to create a supportive environment by sharing resources on consent, partnering with organizations for basic needs, and amplifying survivor voices while helping formerly incarcerated individuals engage more healthily and build a safe sexual culture through education and advocacy.

Activities

The audience will be hearing from four women with lived experience and/or expertise working in reentry and community health. Navigating Reentry Workshop Advocacy or Activism We are hosting an evening event on Wednesday, February 12, from 5:00?6:30pm at the AFAM House, bringing formerly incarcerated and justice-involved women together for a supportive, community-centered conversation on navigating reentry. The workshop will focus on practical health, safety, and reintegration topics, including responding to sexual assault and domestic partner violence, safer drug-use practices, and rebuilding access to care after incarceration. The 90-minute program will include a brief Narcan training led by EMTs, as well as resource stations offering supplies such as Narcan, feminine hygiene products, and sexual assault response kits, alongside connections to local health, safety, and reentry services. Approximately 60 minutes will be structured programming, featuring three speakers offering 10-minute reflections, each followed by moderated Q&A, with additional time for informal conversation and resource engagement. Infographic Research Project Research & Public Policy Analysis We are distilling research into infographics to be disseminated on a transitions clinic website, through social media partnerships with the School of Public Health, and with community partners we are actively in communication with. The research we’ve conducted has resulted from conversations with and requests by community partners / women who are reintegrating after prison.
