Dwight Hall Kitchen Use
Dwight Hall’s Kitchen
Dwight Hall has a kitchen (Room 108) equipped with a fridge, stove, oven, sink, microwave, pots, cutlery, and various other appliances and utensils. The kitchen is generally kept locked and access to the kitchen by anyone other than Dwight Hall staff needs to be requested and approved.
Eligibility for Kitchen Use
Dwight Hall’s kitchen is not available for personal use. Dwight Hall’s kitchen can be used to support the organization of events at Dwight Hall and other Dwight Hall affiliated actions. Events must be confirmed using Dwight Hall’s Room Reservation Request Form and in accordance with Dwight Hall’s Facilities Terms of Use policy. Affiliated actions must be submitted for approval using the application form. Anyone wanting to use the kitchen will need to go through one of these processes first.
Requesting Use of the Kitchen
- A specific Room Reservation Request Form must be submitted to request use of the kitchen. The form must specify the related event or action, the nature of the use of the kitchen and the requested times. The person submitting the request will be considered the person responsible for the reservation and for leaving the kitchen in good condition. Reservations should be submitted at least 48 business hours before the requested time in order to give Dwight Hall sufficient time to review the request.
- Approved requests will be confirmed via email.
- If requestors do not already have access to a kitchen key through the Chaplain’s Office, they will need to request the key through the Equipment Reservation Request Form. This request must also be submitted at least 48 business hours before the requested time to give Dwight Hall sufficient time to review the request.
- Approved requests will be confirmed via email.
Using the Kitchen
The kitchen may be used for various purposes including food preparation, temporary food storage and vendor staging. Appliances, utensils and all the equipment in the kitchen are available for use unless they are labeled for a specific group. Items that are not labeled are available for use. Items that are kept in cabinets labeled “Dwight Hall” are not available for general use.
Users are expected to coordinate with Dwight Hall before using the appliances to ensure that they are used properly. The induction stove, specifically, may not be intuitive for first time users.
If any emergencies arise when using the kitchen, users should call 9-1-1. If administrative assistance is urgently needed outside of business hours (Monday – Friday, 9am – 5pm), users can call Dwight Hall’s on-call Operations Coordinator at 203-747-8545.
After Using the Kitchen
Users are expected to remove all food and any other items that they bring into the kitchen and to leave the kitchen neat and clean. This includes wiping down counters, cleaning up any spills, washing and drying any dishes that were used, etc. A complete list of expectations will be posted on the kitchen door and included in the Kitchen Return Form.
A Kitchen Return Form must be completed after each usage. These forms will be reviewed by Dwight Hall staff.
Kitchen Inspections
Dwight Hall staff will inspect the kitchen every Monday and Friday to ensure that all users have left it in good condition and that it remains clean.
If the kitchen is not left in good condition after each use, Dwight Hall reserves the right to deny users any future access to the kitchen.
