LEAP Grant Writer

LEAP is a dynamic, innovative organization fulfilling a vital need in the community to train young leaders who create a safe community for over 1500 children from low-income neighborhoods in New Haven each year. We have two full-time job openings in LEAP’s Development and Communications Department for a Grant Writer and for a Communications Coordinator. There is a lot of room for a motivated, talented person to make significant contributions to the organization and New Haven.  Our most recent grant writers and communications coordinators have been recent graduates and have played important parts as we have raised over $2,000,000 in additional funds over the last five years. These are perfect positions for someone who wants to do service-minded work but earn a good salary, who wants to get excellent experience applicable to any number of future jobs, and who wants a chance to see New Haven from a different perspective. 

LEAP Grant Writer Position:

This may be an entry-level or a higher-level candidate. The Grant Writer is responsible for writing grants that involve doing research, gathering data from our programs, and crafting appropriate narratives. The Grant Writer is in charge of tracking and managing current grants, finding new sources of grant funding, tracking and managing program data, and writing other communication material such as reports and newsletters. The ideal candidate will have very strong writing skills, an exceptional eye for detail, an analytical mind, and excellent organizational capacity as well as a strong commitment to LEAP’s mission and addressing racial and socioeconomic inequities.
