Information for Groups Conducting Online Programming with Minors.

Following are opportunities for remote engagement, local engagement, and advocacy. 

Dwight Hall Community Response: VIRTUAL Volunteers

  • UPDATED – Dwight Hall will post remote service opportunities here – please check frequently for updates.  These opportunities are not sponsored by Dwight Hall, and Dwight Hall has not screened the sponsoring agencies or the volunteer opportunities. 
  • If you are a Yale alum affiliated with a nonprofit or a cause that can utilize remote volunteers, please contact Johnny Scafidi.
  • As New Haven Public Schools and youth-serving organizations transition to distance learning and mentoring, we expect there will be demand for Yale volunteers.  If you are considering conducting online programming, please review the Information for Groups Conducting Online Programming with Minors. We advise you not to contact school officials directly as they work to adopt distance learning formats.  As always, please follow guidelines and policies for Yale Programs for Children and Youth.

Dwight Hall Community Response: ADVOCACY

  • Dwight Hall will provide opportunities for advocacy on behalf of those who are affected or those who are made more vulnerable by the impact of COVID-19.
  • Please contact Advocacy Network coordinator Savannah Crichton ‘21 to publicize your campaign.

Support for Members of the Greater New Haven Community

  • Dwight Hall volunteers trained to deliver Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) services are offering remote services to clients who are Connecticut residents.  See this page for more information.
  • A Mutual Aid Hub for Waterbury, Bridgeport, New Haven, and Hartford has been created by Life in My Days, Inc“In these fast-moving and uncertain times, it’s important that we show up for each other and remember that we are not alone.”  Access the document with links to resources here
  • For organizations – Community Foundation for Greater New Haven has established a COVID-19 Community Fund in partnership with the United Way of Greater New Haven. Learn more about this community-wide effort to help Greater New Haven’s nonprofit organizations and the people they serve affected by COVID-19.
  • Yale Medicine/Yale New Haven Health COVID-19 Call Center offers information on how to keep yourself and your family healthy. Health professionals are available to answer your questions, Monday – Friday, 7 am – 7 pm. 203-688-1700.
