Serve on the City of New Haven’s Violence Reduction Working Group

Applications for the City of New Haven’s Office of Violence Prevention’s Violence Reduction Working Group are due Monday, January 15th.

The group brings together law enforcement, community-based violence prevention and intervention program staff and similar service providers, researchers, and other key stakeholders to work collaboratively and consistently on the issue of community violence. The goal is to coordinate collaborative efforts and programming, share information, and to ensure that the City maximizes shared resources and talent to continually improve outcomes for individuals and communities.

The Working Group will convene quarterly and issue quarterly and annual reports. In addition to quarterly meetings, members will be able to choose to participate in a selection of subcommittees, including programming, data, funding, and community engagement which will meet monthly. Committee chairs will share progress and propose relevant changes to violence prevention-related policies and practices. It should also be noted that the City will work to help reduce barriers to participation by offering stipends for travel and childcare to attend meetings.

This is an exciting opportunity for folks to get deeply involved and help the Office of Violence Prevention in New Haven improve the efficacy of its work.
