Open for undergraduate, graduate, and professional students, fellows deeply engage with ideas and strategies for improving the world through evidence and reason. One for the World Pledge Drive Fundraising In partnership with One for the World, Yale Effective Altruism will be hosting a pledge drive to ask students to donate 1% of their future income towards effective charities. The pledge drive will focus on two main outreach efforts: speaker events and tabling. We will organize speaker events featuring One for the World representatives and members of the effective altruism community, who will discuss the impact of evidence-based giving and the importance of sustained donations. These events will include time for questions and discussion. In addition, we will conduct regular tabling in high-traffic areas on campus, where trained volunteers will engage students in brief conversations, share informational materials, and invite them to take the pledge. Together, these efforts will help raise awareness, encourage reflection on ethical giving, and support students in making meaningful, long-term commitments to effective charities. Yale Effective Altruism Reading Group Social/Cultural/Team-Building This reading group will meets for one hour each week to read and discuss a book related to effective altruism.
