Position Focus:
Reporting to the Director of Programming and Evaluation, this fellowship is a launching point for a career in public service/nonprofit management. This individual will have the opportunity to gain experience while working in the fields of community engagement, nonprofit programming and administration, and higher education. They will also build professional and leadership skills while assisting with the delivery of a wide range of programs run by Dwight Hall at Yale.
This position is designed to be a one-year fellowship, mutually renewable to a second year after annual performance evaluation.
Principal Responsibilities:
1. Supports Dwight Hall at Yale’s FY27 Strategic Goals with direction from the Director of Programming and Evaluation in collaboration with the programming team. Specifically:
1a. Coordination of trainings, workshops, and events that benefit the student body.
1b. Development of new fellowship and mentoring programming
1c. Participation in task force that standardizes advanced projects
1d. Website re-organization and development with particular attention to the integration of existing data systems
2. Supports and coordinates a range of community engagement and leadership development programs along Dwight Hall at Yale’s programming pillars; Engage Grow and Advance. This position will have special attention to:
2a. Volunteer engagement
2b. Member group affiliation and action management
2c. Fellowship management (Urban Fellows, Summer Fellows, Public School Interns, Community Mental Health Fellows
2d. Student Executive Committee
2e. Emerging projects and fiscally sponsored programs
3. Builds and monitors data and database management tools, with special attention to Salesforce.
4. Supports essential Dwight Hall administrative functions, including operations i.e. resource management such as rooms/cars/equipment, development, and finance functions.
5. Interacts with a wide range of audiences both internal and outside of Yale University.
6. May perform other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Licenses or Certifications:
Required Skill/Ability 1: :
Ability to develop new skills with support, have excellent organizational abilities, be attentive to detail, and eagerly strive for professionalism in all aspects of work.
Required Skill/Ability 2: :
Versatile communication skills, ability to produce creative and compelling prose suitable for web and print. Possession of a critical visual communications aesthetic, and comfort with speaking in public.
Required Skill/Ability 3: :
Passion for public service and social justice, ability to stay current with developments in the field, and be interested in pursuing a long-term career in the area.
Preferred Education, Experience and Skills: :
Familiarity with Yale University and Dwight Hall at Yale. Proven understanding of the interests of Yale College students. Commitment to enhancing the undergraduate experience at Yale and the ability to inspire and lead student groups. Demonstrated ability to work independently when necessary and to meet deadlines with limited supervision. Interest in learning about Salesforce platform.
