MissionWe?re on a mission to inspire students in Greater New…
Mission
We aim to improve the math proficiency of New Haven Public School students, many of whom fell way behind grade level during the pandemic and are struggling to catch up. Our priority is making the math practice fun and engaging for the kids through game-based learning and one-on-one tutoring support. Yale students will serve as volunteer math tutors in partnership with local nonprofit program New HYTEs (New Haven Youth Tennis and Education).

How Others Get Involved
Volunteers can join by reaching out to elliot.lichtman@yale.edu or amy.metrick@yale.edu. We’ll reach out and meet to give you some training, then we can get you out and tutoring within a few weeks! For families of prospective students, please email Elliot (elliot.lichtman@yale.edu) or Amy (amy.metrick@yale.edu) and we’ll connect you with our partner organization, New HYTEs. Enrollment for the 2025-26 after school program is currently full, but please do reach out anyways if you are interested! In addition to putting you on the wait list in case a spot opens up, we can help connect you with other similar programs and register you for our summer tutoring.
