Our Mission:

The Yale Interpretation Network (YIN) provides pro-bono interpretation and translation services to bridge the gap between Limited English Proficient community members and social services. We believe that breaking down language barriers is necessary for a strong, cohesive community.

Our Activities:

YIN On-Demand Translation Table
Direct Service
We will be hosting an on-demand translation table on Cross Campus that doubles as an info table about our organization and how to get involved.

MailChimp Subscription
Direct Service
MailChimp is absolutely necessary to our operations, as we send out translation assignments through this site. A standard subscription is necessary, as we have too many contacts to reach through the free or essentials plans. We do a semesterly clean of our contacts list to ensure that there are no extraneous contacts.

Interpretation Training for New Members
Direct Service
We will be training members in best practices for interpretation and translation, such as confidentiality and techniques.

Interpretation Training for New Members
Advocacy, or Activism
We are hosting this training to educate members on translation/interpretation techniques, potentially useful professional jargon (i.e. legal language, medical phrases, etc.), confidentiality practices, and other onboarding details. After this training, members will be qualified in our database to take on translation and interpretation requests from the community organizations with which we partner.

Mid-Term Study Break
Advocacy, or Activism
We will table at Bass Cafe, which doubles as member recruitment.

Finals Study Break
Advocacy, or Activism
We will table at Bass Cafe, which doubles as member recruitment.
